Galway secondary school joins online admissions programme
Nearly a year after the launch of the Apply to School online admissions programme, another Galway school will join the list of participating schools.
Calasanctius College in Oranmore will join Presentation College, Clarin College and Coláiste an Eachréidh in Athenry as the Galway schools taking part in the online admissions system.
Families can apply to participating schools using one online form, while schools process applications within set timelines, helping to streamline the admissions process.
A total of 15 schools were included when the pilot programme was launched in July 2025. Following its first year, the scheme is set to expand to 22 post-primary schools and support almost 2,600 families.
“I’m particularly pleased that Presentation College, Clarin College and Coláiste an Eachréidh were among the first schools in the country to pilot this new system,” Galway East TD Seán Canney said.
“Their participation has helped demonstrate how technology can make the admissions process simpler and more straightforward for families.
Further details on the second phase of the programme will be published by the Department of Education and Youth in September.
