Galway project moves to delivery phase as blueprints for Salthill revamp expected in March

Salthill village is moving into the delivery phase of its framework plan, which will include expanded recreational spaces and new designated footpaths in the area.
Following a workshop held last week focusing on a “delivery focused” timeline, Galway City Council staff Catherine McAndrew and Eoghan Lynch said the draft plan, along with the project’s blueprints, is expected to be published by the end of March.
The Salthill Village and Seafront Framework has been a collaborative project with Salthill residents.
The plans made thus far were drawn to reflect the solutions and improvements suggested by feedback given in the ‘Continuing the Conversation’ report in February 2025.
When the framework was launched, a series of engagement meetings were held with Salthill businesses, hotels, swimmers and residents to identify the most valued amenities along the Promenade and within the village.
Following this consultation process, a design charrette formed stage two of the project, with urban design specialists Allies and Morrison producing a report that reflected the views and priorities expressed during the engagement phase.
