Galway primary school to gain extra classroom as Education Department approves extension

A Galway primary school is on track to receive an additional classroom after an extension was approved by the Education Department.
Under the Modular Framework Programme, St Oliver Plunkett’s National School in Athenry has been initially approved for an extension of one mainstream classroom.
The completion of this project will be under the Education Department’s devolved delivery method meaning another body will be responsible for delivering the project following the approval.
Galway East TD Albert Dolan said as classroom numbers rise, additional capacity for schools is welcomed.
“Schools across Galway are experiencing growing demand, and it is important that investment continues to ensure that children have access to modern, high-quality educational facilities. This additional classroom will help support the school’s capacity needs and provide extra learning space for students.”
“I want to commend the Board of Management, school leadership and all involved in advocating for the needs of St Oliver Plunkett’s NS,” Deputy Dolan added. “Investing in our schools is investing in our communities.”
