Galway pharmacy set to become family home as business moves next door

A pharmacy in Co Galway is set to be converted into a residential accommodation following plans to relocate the business next door.
Elle and Barry Davis, in association with Davis’ Pharmacy in Ballinasloe, have submitted a planning application to renovate the existing pharmacy building and incorporate it into the attached residential property.
Under the latest plans, the existing pharmacy premises in Eyrecourt will be converted into living accommodation. The ground floor will include a new living and dining area, a home office and a bedroom with an ensuite bathroom. The existing kitchen at the rear of the house will be retained.
The first and second floors of the property will remain unchanged. The first floor currently contains two bedrooms, bathrooms and a living area, while the second floor comprises three bedrooms and a bathroom.

A decision on the application is expected from Galway County Council planning offices by September 28, 2026.
Planning permission was granted in April 2024 for Davis’ Pharmacy to relocate to a neighbouring site.

The new single-storey pharmacy, measuring 140sqm, will be connected to the residential property through a gated vehicular access point.
The new pharmacy building will include a retail area, dispensary, service counter, staff room, toilets and two storerooms.
Permission for the relocation of the pharmacy was granted on June 3, 2024, subject to 11 conditions.
