Galway Council gauges interest for homeless Emergency Accommodation list

By Emma F. Smith, Independent.ie

Galway City and County Council are gauging interest from hotels, B&Bs, and self-contained units willing to make rooms available for Emergency Accommodation.

An expression of interest form is available on the council website for accommodation providers who wish to be included in the council’s list to host homeless families and individuals.

According to the guidelines, any accommodation offered must be located within Galway City or surrounding towns and villages and must be close to public transport with daily service.

Submissions should be fully detailed with the type of accommodation, number of rooms available, price per night/week/month, and any additional utilities that will be available.

In return, the councils will “nominate clients as required” and “pay agreed fee.” However, submitting an expression of interest does not obligate the council to enter into an agreement with the provider.

The completed form should be submitted via email to the Administrative Officer at Homeless@GalwayCity.ie before July 25, 2025.
