Expressions of interest sought for new Galway city Christmas event

Christmas in Galway is set for a refresh this year, with Galway City Council seeking partners to deliver a new festive attraction on the west side of the city.
Plans are underway for a walk-through, family-friendly sensory experience at Fr Burke Park, designed to complement the long-established Christmas Market in Eyre Square.
The council has issued a call for Expressions of Interest from experienced operators to develop and run the initiative. The proposed event will be an alcohol-free space, featuring music, light installations, a dedicated performance area and a range of food and warm drink concessions.
With the Christmas Market drawing visitors from across Ireland and abroad to the city centre, the council hopes the new attraction will help spread footfall more evenly and bring a festive atmosphere to another part of Galway city.
Given the park’s residential setting, applicants are asked to factor in programming that will conclude before 10pm, with careful consideration given to noise levels, crowd management and the amenity of local residents.
The council is encouraging applications from operators with a proven track record in delivering outdoor events and activations in public urban spaces. Proposals should outline all aspects of delivery, including design, staffing, site management and overall use of the space.
Queries can be submitted until the end of April via EconomicDevelopment@GalwayCity.ie, while the deadline for Expressions of Interest is May 18.
