Construction on new €1.5m all-weather sports campus set to begin in East Galway
Construction is set to begin on a new all-weather sports campus in east Galway after the project secured funding.
New Inn, Co Galway, will soon have a new sports facility featuring an all-weather astro pitch, tennis court, MUGA (multi-use games area) pitch and grass-based pitch as €1.5m was allocated under the Large Scale Sport Infrastructure Fund.
Construction is expected to begin in the coming weeks, with the facility aiming to open its doors in spring 2027.
Galway East TD Seán Canney said: “This is a very significant development for New Inn and for communities and sporting organisations right across East Galway.
“The €1.5 million investment will deliver high-quality all-weather facilities which will serve a wide range of field sports and provide an important sporting resource.”
“A huge amount of work has gone into bringing this project to the construction stage. I want to congratulate New Inn Community Development Company and the hard-working committee behind the project for their commitment and determination in progressing it.”
In 2020, funding was given for New Inn for its first full-sized astro-pitch.
