Over 900 homes planned for major Dundrum development with crèche, café and parks

A major development in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown featuring 934 homes, public parks, a crèche and retail units is to take shape in Dublin 14.
Construction has begun on the development at Dún Brí, Dundrum, with the first phase set to deliver 547 apartments, comprising 203 one-bedroom, 300 two-bedroom and 44 three-bedroom units.
“This is exactly the sort of development we need in the county,” Cathaoirleach of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, Cllr Barry Saul, said.
“The amenities, facilities and green space will have huge benefits for those who will call Dún Brí home, and for the residents in the surrounding area.”
The wider development will also feature a café, retail units, landscaped gardens and a civic plaza.
A community centre incorporating indoor sports facilities, along with a medical centre, is planned for the second phase.
Cllr Saul said the development would bring significant benefits to “current and future residents”, following years in which the site had been closed to the public.
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council said the development would also preserve the site’s historic character, with existing buildings set to be retained and repurposed as part of the plans.
Dún Brí is located around 400 metres from the Windy Arbour Luas stop and is served by several Dublin Bus routes connecting the area with the city centre. It is also a short distance from the M50 at Junction 13.
Frank Curran, chief executive of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, said the project would use public land to deliver homes and amenities in Dundrum.
“We are all extremely proud of the quality of the homes and amenities that will make Dún Brí a community that its residents will be proud to call home,” he said.
“By maximising our public land for residential development, we can bring new energy and life into strong communities like Dundrum.”
