New €3m village park with inclusive playground opens in Fingal

A new €3m village park in Fingal has opened with an inclusive playground, community garden and village green.
Naul Village Park also includes new pedestrian entrances, seating and picnic areas, along with a number of features aimed at improving access through the village.
A new accessible pedestrian connection links the park with the Séamus Ennis Arts Centre, with a cyclist rest stop, drinking water fountain and parking facilities also provided.
Mayor of Fingal Cllr Tony Murphy said the park would provide “a space for people of all ages and abilities”.
“I have no doubt this park will become a cherished part of village life and a lasting legacy for future generations,” he said.
The park also provides areas for children to play alongside quieter spaces for residents.
Chief executive of Fingal County Council AnnMarie Farrelly said almost €3m had been invested by the council in the project.
“Community input played a key role in shaping the project, helping to ensure it reflects local needs and aspirations. It is a valuable amenity that will support recreation, wellbeing and community life for years to come,” she said.
Meanwhile, Minister for Rural and Community Development Dara Calleary said the new facility would provide a place for residents and visitors to spend time outdoors and meet others.
“Strong rural communities are built on places that bring people together, foster a sense of belonging and enhance quality of life,” he said.
“Naul Village Park is a wonderful example of that vision in action. It will provide a welcoming space for families, children, older residents and visitors, while strengthening the social and cultural fabric that makes villages like Naul such special places to live, work and visit.”
Environmental features of the park include rain gardens, pollinator-friendly planting and the retention of an existing hedgerow. Wildflower seed collected from the site was also resown as part of the landscaping.
The park also provides areas for children to play alongside quieter spaces for residents, as well as a dedicated area for community use.
