Safety concerns after collision at Castlefinn roadworks

By Rachel McLaughlin, Donegal Daily

Concerns have been raised over the visibility of traffic islands at ongoing roadworks in Castlefinn following a collision on Tuesday evening.

Cathaoirleach Gary Doherty said he had been made aware of an accident involving a vehicle and a traffic island at the works during poor weather conditions.

He said visibility in the area was particularly poor and raised concerns that the islands were difficult for approaching motorists to see.

"I've been in contact this evening and have asked for all the traffic islands to be clearly marked and made visible for drivers as soon as possible," he said.

Road improvement works have been underway on the N15 between Liscooley and Castlefin since Monday 15th June 2026.

The project includes drainage and structural works, resurfacing, road markings and road studs, with stop/go traffic management used during the works.

The works are due to be completed by the end of September.
