Anthony Molloy, Cathaoirleach of the Glenties Municipal District has paid tribute to Enda Bonner.
He had a brilliant career in politics, and he was a great councillor, and very hardworking," said Molloy.
Outside of politics, Bonner was a fine sportsman, and played for Donegal in the Ulster Final in 1972, on what was Donegal's first ever Ulster title.
Molloy, famously captained Donegal to their maiden All-Ireland title in September, 1992.
"We had shared common interests as well, and similar to myself he played for the county. He was extremely good footballer in his day, and he was a person that you could call on for advice, which I did on many occasions since joining the council, but outside of all that, he was a great guy and a good friend," said Molloy.
