End date in sight for weeks-long Mayo roadworks

By Oisín Bradley, The Mayo News

The pavement enhancement works have led to delays in the area for two kilometres

There is light at the end of the tunnel for commuters affected by roadworks en route to Westport, as works on the R-335 are due to conclude this week.

On the evening of Sunday, November 9, Limerick native James Cummins was reported missing to Castlebar Garda Station.

The two-kilometre stretch of road, which starts at the L-1801 Coast Road at Belclare, regularly brings commuters to one of Mayo's most iconic landmarks, Croagh Patrick.

The works have been ongoing since Monday, November 3, and have led to traffic management and a convey system being put in place.
