Drivers urged to plan ahead due to R247 road closure
Motorists have been warned that they will encounter disruptions today as works take place on the R247 road.
Donegal County Council have advised drivers to plan ahead as road surfacing works take place on the busy R247 over the next two days.
The Kerrykeel to Rathmulland Road at Shankey will be closed to all traffic.
The road will be closed from 7:30am to 6pm over the next two days.
The R247 will be fully re-opened to traffic on Friday, July 17.
Local diversions have been put in place, but drivers should allow extra time for their journeys.
The beautiful sunny weather has seen people leave Letterkenny in their droves as families head to the beach, and Kerrykeel has some of Donegal's most beautiful beaches.
However, motorists have been warned to avoid that route if possible, or expect to face delays and diversions.
