Monaghan man to stand trial accused of IRA membership
James Joseph Cassidy, aged 53 and resident of Tullycollive in Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan, has been charged with membership of an unlawful organisation styling itself the Irish Republican Army. The alleged offence occurred on 21 September 2016. At the Special Criminal Court, Ms Justice Isobel Kennedy set a trial date of 18 June 2018. Mr Cassidy was remanded on continuing bail pending the commencement of proceedings.
