Discovery of body of a female, Lower Cecil Street, Limerick city, 21st August 2026
On 21 August 2026, the body of a female in her 30s was discovered in an apartment on Lower Cecil Street, Limerick City. Gardaí are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery. The body was removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick for a post-mortem examination, the results of which are not being released for operational reasons. A murder investigation has been initiated, with a Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) appointed to lead the inquiry. An incident room has been established at Henry Street Garda Station, and a technical examination of the scene is ongoing. A Family Liaison Officer has been assigned to support the deceased’s family.
