Zoltan Almasi was jailed for 11 years for manslaughter at the Central Criminal Court on 8 September 2021.

He admitted manslaughter after three murder trials over the 2014 death of 20-year-old Joseph Dunne in Naas, Co Kildare.

The court found that Almasi chased Dunne with a baseball bat and delivered a fatal blow to his head. His sentence was backdated to 16 May 2014, when he entered custody.

The original murder conviction had been quashed by the Supreme Court, while two later murder trials ended with juries unable to agree.
