Yoga student loses religious discrimination claim over studio ban
This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.
Peter McKeon has lost his religious discrimination claim against Niamh Glackin, who runs Roots Wellness in Mayo, after she imposed a lifetime ban from the yoga studio. The Workplace Relations Commission found that the ban followed the way McKeon expressed his views during a discussion about Christmas, rather than the views themselves.
The commission said Glackin had rebutted the initial inference of discrimination. It found the language used, including references to the rape of a child and paedophilia, deeply uncomfortable and inappropriate in the setting, and said expressing religious views did not entitle someone to use any wording in any setting without consequence.
