The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) is to issue its decision in a constructive dismissal claim brought by former International Organisation for Migration employee Charlene Maleady. The IOM invoked diplomatic immunity in response to the claim, while Ms Maleady’s lawyers argued that immunity did not apply. The hearing ended after adjudication officer Kara Turner said she would write to the parties with her decision.
Ms Maleady told the WRC she resigned in September 2023 after alleging retaliation and harassment by the organisation’s former chief of mission in Ireland, Lalini Veerassamy. Her evidence included claims that her duties and work were reassigned and that she was excluded from office activities. These remain allegations presented at the hearing.
