WRC to issue decision in employee’s challenge to Bristol Myers Squibb wage deductions

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

The Workplace Relations Commission is to issue a written decision in Adrienne Doyle’s complaint challenging Bristol Myers Squibb’s plan to deduct €870 a month from her salary for two years to recover an alleged €20,800 overpayment for parental leave. The hearing report says the adjudicator had not yet issued that decision.

Doyle told the WRC that her parental leave was approved after she applied through the company portal, and that the eligibility rule later cited by the company had not been published when she applied. The company’s barrister acknowledged an administrative error but argued that it did not create a contractual entitlement and that the alleged overpayment could be recovered through wage deductions.
