WRC rejects printer’s unfair dismissal claim

By Niamh Kearney

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

The Workplace Relations Commission rejected Declan Walshe’s unfair dismissal complaint against Poolville Ltd, trading as Labelcraft, finding that his remark about his manager in the works canteen was the “last straw” for the company. The adjudicator said a reasonable employer would have dismissed him.

The tribunal found that Walshe’s relationships with his manager and colleagues were dysfunctional, caused by his failure to act supportively and manage workplace relationships constructively and with humility. He had claimed colleagues were plotting against him after he called for another printer’s dismissal; those claims were his account, not findings by the tribunal.
