The Workplace Relations Commission rejected Rana Shaheer Ebrahim’s complaints of racial and religious discrimination against the National Gallery of Ireland and Osborne Recruitment. Adjudication officer Niamh O’Carroll said she had serious concerns about the authenticity of forms Ebrahim submitted, excluded them from consideration and found no evidence of the alleged discriminatory behaviour. She concluded that he had not established a presumption of discrimination, so the complaint failed.
Ebrahim had alleged that a colleague shouted a racial slur and that pork rashers were put in his bag in a staff locker room. He said he reported the incident, but the Gallery said it had no record of a complaint. The Gallery told the WRC that his temporary employment ended early because of persistent punctuality issues; a manager said he was late for 11 of 35 rostered shifts.
