The Workplace Relations Commission rejected Katazyna Wadlewska’s unfair dismissal claim against Lidl Ireland Gmbh. Wadlewska, a deputy store manager, was dismissed after an allegation that she took a six-pack of energy drinks from store stock and consumed them without paying. She said she had paid for the drinks later, but could not produce receipts.
Adjudicator Úna Glazier-Farmer found that the investigation followed the code of practice and that Wadlewska received fair procedures. The adjudicator noted that Wadlewska did not appeal her dismissal internally before bringing her complaint, and found that she had not been unfairly dismissed.
