The Workplace Relations Commission recovered €1.4 million in unpaid wages for employees in 2022, a 45% rise on the previous year, according to its annual report reported on 9 May 2023.

Inspectors made 5,820 workplace visits and detected 5,700 specific contraventions of legislation. The report also recorded 4,253 adjudication hearings, up 28% on 2021.

The Commission’s conciliation service resolved 88% of the disputes on which it worked in 2022. The number of parties willing to engage in mediation rose by 30%.
