Workplace Relations Commission adjudicator Monica Brennan found that Ross Jenkins unlawfully withheld €1,650.78 from carer Catarina Cardoso’s wages and directed the family to pay the sum within six weeks of her decision.

Cardoso had cared for Jenkins’s aunt in Galway from July 2024 and left on 23 August 2024. Jenkins said his aunt had advanced dementia and was left alone for nearly 24 hours, while Cardoso said anxiety and carer burnout led her to leave and denied failing to give medication.
