WRC orders R&E Fish to pay fisherman €12,500 over wage and rights breaches

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

The Workplace Relations Commission ordered R&E Fish Ltd to pay Elamir Elamdkhoum €12,500 after finding breaches of minimum wage and other employment rights. The order included €11,540 in pay arrears, €408 for a holiday entitlement breach and another week’s pay for failure to provide a written statement of employment terms.

Adjudicating officer Conor Stokes accepted the union’s calculation of arrears because the employer could not prove Mr Elamdkhoum’s working hours and the employment relationship had continued. He found that the company had contravened the National Minimum Wage Act after it failed to provide requested pay records. The WRC also found he was three days short of holiday entitlement and ordered compensation equal to five days’ minimum wage.
