WRC orders Derrin Group to pay former CEO €183,426 after unfair dismissal

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

The Workplace Relations Commission ruled that Derrin Group Management Ltd unfairly dismissed its chief executive, Conor Gilligan, and ordered the company to pay him €183,426.28. Adjudication officer Bríd Deering found the company had not shown grounds to justify the dismissal and said Gilligan’s conduct was beyond reproach.

Gilligan told the WRC that he had raised concerns about payments to a director while subcontractors were unpaid, and about VAT debts. Shareholders dismissed him without notice for gross misconduct in November 2024. The WRC awarded him €125,581.94 for unfair dismissal and €57,844.28 for six months of unpaid contractual notice.
