The Workplace Relations Commission found that Cork City Council discriminated against Terézia Foott on grounds of age and gender when a one-size-fits-all beep test prevented her from advancing in a full-time firefighter recruitment competition. The adjudicator said the test gave younger candidates an advantage and disadvantaged women.
The commission ordered the council to pay Foott €4,000 for gender discrimination and €4,000 for age discrimination, totalling €8,000.
