The Workplace Relations Commission adjourned Gwen Doyle’s constructive dismissal complaint against Athboy Family Practice until later in the summer, with the employer’s solicitor expected to continue cross-examining her. Practice manager Kirsty Sanderson and two other clinic staff members were also expected to give evidence later in the case.

Ms Doyle alleges that a colleague called her a “lazy b***h” in April 2024 and that the clinic failed to resolve the resulting workplace grievance. Her union, Siptu, argued that the investigation denied her natural justice and left her with no option but to regard herself as constructively dismissed. The employer contests the complaint and said it made strenuous efforts to resolve the grievance.

Ms Doyle told the WRC she did not consider the apologies following the grievance process genuine. The complaint concerns her departure from the clinic in October 2024 after 19 years’ employment.
