Woman who smashed window at Simon Harris constituency office to undergo psychological assessment
The Wicklow PeopleA woman has pleaded guilty to a series of public order and criminal damage offences, including an incident involving the constituency office of Tánaiste Simon Harris in Bray.
Andrea Ogilvy (43), of Wolfe Tone Square South, Bray, appeared at a sitting of Bray District Court.
She pleaded guilty to one count of using threatening, abusive and insulting behaviour, one count of failing to comply with gardaí, and two counts of criminal damage.
Sergeant Mick Dee stated that on June 12, 2025, at a Centra on Vevay Road in Bray, the accused verbally abused a shop worker, saying: “I want my f*****g coffee and my tenner.”
When gardaí arrived and informed her she may be arrested, she told them: “You’re a piece of shit and a c**t.”
Sgt Dee noted that three members of the public were present during the incident and have since provided statements to gardaí.
On July 22, 2025, gardaí arrested Ms Ogilvy after she threw an unknown object through the front window of Tánaiste Simon Harris’s constituency office on Quinsborough Road.
Sgt Dee stated that the damage caused was valued at over €500.
The court also heard that Ms Ogilvy was found throwing items at the front of a shop next to the constituency office, where a sign was damaged at a cost of €95.
Ogilvy “has limited previous convictions”, mainly relating to road traffic matters.
Solicitor for the accused, Michael O’Connor, said he was instructed that Ms Ogilvy has mental health issues and has been “in and out of Newcastle Hospital,” most recently being discharged in February 2026.
The court heard she has no formal diagnosis but has experienced suicidal ideation and is currently “unwell”.
Judge David Kennedy adjourned the matter until May and extended legal aid to cover the preparation of a psychological report.
