A woman who twice caused a disturbance at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital has been jailed for a total of six months.

The district court on Monday heard that one of the incidents occurred some hours after Martina Vuletic (44) had been discharged.

The defendant, of no fixed abode, appeared via video link and pleaded guilty to failing to comply with the direction of a garda at the Drogheda hospital on September 3, 2024.

She also admitted the same charge and another of using or engaging in threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour or words at the Lourdes on February 27, 2025.

Ms Vuletic, who has 15 previous convictions, pleaded guilty to the same two charges as above at Dunnes Stores, Scotch Hall, on December 19, 2024.

Solicitor Fergal Boyle said that his client had been picked up on warrants and has been in custody since July 15 last.

A native of Croatia she was nine years in Ireland. Two years ago, she spiralled after breaking up with her husband.

Ms Vuletic had an alcohol addiction and had been living on the street and been in and out of custody.

Court presenter Sgt John O’Hehir said that on September 3, 2024, the woman had been medically discharged from Our Lady of Lourdes at 11am.

She refused to leave and removed her socks and shoes. She was aggressive towards security personnel.

Gardaí attended the scene at 5pm and gave her a direction to leave but Ms Vuletic failed to comply.

It was a similar outcome at the hospital on February 27 last. She had been aggressive and abusive towards staff at 10.50pm.

When gardaí responded to a call to Dunnes Stores, Scotch Hall last December the defendant told officers to “f**k off”.

Judge Vincent Deane remarked that incidents at the A&E Department of a hospital were more serious than “ordinary public order”.

Consecutive three-month sentences were imposed on one charge from each of the two dates at the hospital, backdated to July 15.

Other charges were taken into consideration and legal aid granted.
