Woman granted interim restraining order after alleged hurling stick attack
The Wicklow PeopleA woman has been granted an interim restraining order against her sister after telling Bray District Court that her sister attacked her home with a hurling stick.
The woman appeared at an in camera family law sitting of Bray District Court seeking the interim restraining order against her older sister.
It was alleged that the applicant received a text message from her sister’s child requesting food, having been left alone with a friend of her mother’s while her mother went away for a few days. The woman then brought the child to her home.
The applicant provided background information to the court about her sister, stating that her ex-husband was aware she had brought the child to her home to remove her from her sister’s friend.
The applicant testified that her sister arrived at her home, where her own small child lives, carrying a hurling stick. It was alleged that the sister proceeded to smash the woman’s doorbell and threatened to kill her.
“She threatened to kill me,” the applicant told the court.
The woman stated that her sister has bullied her on and off throughout her life.
The court was shown video footage of the incident, in which the sister can be heard screaming, “open the door,” before the applicant is heard saying, “you’re scaring the child.”
Judge Kennedy granted the interim restraining order, with a full hearing to take place in late January.
