William Reilly was accused of trespass at the High Court on 26 July 2024, after a housing developer said his horses were delaying work in Clonmel.

Crann Ard Developments Ltd said it owned land at Ardgeeha Upper, where it planned 114 homes with an estimated gross development value of €55 million.

The company claimed Mr Reilly had no permission to keep livestock there and sought an injunction preventing him from entering or interfering with the land.

Frederick Gilligan BL, for the company, said solicitors acting for Mr Reilly alleged that he had been in continuous and exclusive possession of the land since 2007. Mr Gilligan said previous owners had allowed Mr Reilly to use the land for a period, but rejected any claim that he was entitled to use or occupy it.

Mr Justice Mark Sanfey allowed the company, on an ex-parte basis, to serve short notice of the proceedings. The case was due back before the High Court the following week.
