A Wicklow woman accused of stealing €30,000 in cash and a car has been sent forward for trial.

Sarah Byrne (44), of Woodview, Ballinalea, Ashford, appeared at a sitting of Bray District Court charged with using a false instrument, making a false instrument and three counts of theft.

It is alleged that between November and December 2024, Ms Byrne used a vehicle registration certificate for a Hyundai Tucson which she believed to be a false instrument, with the intention of inducing a person to accept it as genuine.

She is further accused of stealing €30,000 in cash and the Hyundai, which is valued at €24,000.

A book of evidence is being prepared. This document is used for indictable offences and serves as the official presentation of the State’s case against an accused person.

Judge Mary McAveety issued Ms Byrne with an alibi warning, telling her: “If you intend to rely on an alibi at trial, you must notify the prosecution within 14 days of today.”

Ms Byrne was sent forward for trial at Wicklow Circuit Criminal Court on October 6.
