A Wicklow pensioner accused of approaching a man at a car park and grabbing his genital area has had his case adjourned.

The man, aged in his 70s, cannot be named for legal reasons. He appeared at a sitting of Bray District Court charged with one count of sexual assault.

Sergeant Mick Dee informed the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has directed that the matter be dealt with at District Court level instead of the Circuit Criminal Court.

Judge Paula Cullinane asked the prosecution to outline the alleged facts to determine whether she would accept jurisdiction.

It is alleged that in December 2025, at a car park near the Glen of the Downs, the defendant approached the complainant and grabbed his genital area.

The court heard that the pensioner allegedly apologised, before leaving the area in his car.

It was noted that the defendant gave a voluntary caution statement to gardaí.

Judge Cullinane adjourned the matter until October 12 to allow the prosecution to furnish all disclosure to solicitor for the defendant, Brendan Maloney,
