The Wicklow PeopleA man has been fined for careless driving after a crash on the N11 in Wicklow caused another vehicle to spin around and face oncoming traffic.
Kevin Hardie (51), of Priory Court, Delgany, pleaded guilty at Bray District Court to one count of careless driving.
The court was informed that on September 20, 2025, on the N11 northbound, the accused collided with a woman, forcing her car to spin around and face oncoming traffic. The court also heard that he did not have valid insurance.
Solicitor for the defendant, Brendan Maloney, said that his client was in St John of God Hospital at the time for his mental health and has since entered rehabilitation for an alcohol addiction.
He added that Mr Hardie is a Scottish national and a divorced man with children.
Mr Maloney said he had spoken to staff in the defendant’s treatment programme and that he is now making excellent progress.
Judge Andy Gubbins fined the accused €400 and did not suspend his licence, as he had already received a suspension for the insurance offence.
