A home in Bray, Co Wicklow, was targeted in recent weeks in a suspected case of drug intimidation.

The occupant of the house is currently before a court in Wicklow for sentencing, after pleading guilty to possession of a substantial quantity of drugs for the purpose of sale or supply.

It is understood the man who gardaí believe ordered the home to be attacked is a senior member of a large-scale organised crime gang based in north Wicklow.

According to sources, “the man is known for demanding money with menace. He is well known to us”.

They added: “He doesn’t have money or the trappings of wealth, but that could be to avoid the Criminal Assets Bureau.”

No official complaint was made to gardaí. It is believed they are aware of the situation and are keeping a close eye on it.

In the Bray Local Drug and Alcohol Task Force 2025 annual report they said 13 cases of drug-related intimidation were reported through the National Drug Treatment Reporting System during 2024-2025.

Some 20 cases were reported across the wider East Coast Regional Drug and Alcohol Task Force area. Nationally, 1,027 cases were recorded during the same period.

Bray Local Drug and Alcohol Task Force warns that drug-related intimidation can include threats, violence, debt pressure and the takeover of homes.
