Wexford woman who was driving while disqualified gets suspended sentence and put off the road for four years
Wexford PeopleA Wexford woman received a suspended prison sentence after being caught driving while disqualified.
Garda McCormack told the court that on November 8, 2025, he observed a vehicle being driven by Emma Fry (33), of 3 Churchview, Ashefield, Blackwater, Wexford, on the R742 at Inch, Blackwater.
After stopping the vehicle, Fry admitted she was disqualified from driving and did not have insurance.
Gerry Flynn, solicitor for the accused, told the court that Fry had received a six-year driving ban in 2020 which was due to expire in February. In anticipation of the ban ending, she had purchased a car and was driving it to the shop on the day in question.
Mr Flynn said that all of Fry’s previous convictions were road traffic related and stemmed from a period in her life when she had been “accumulating convictions, not turning up for court and burying her head in the sand.” He added that she had since addressed the issues in her life and had “dealt with her demons”.
Imposing sentence, Judge Cheatle remarked that Fry had effectively “set herself back” by getting behind the wheel while still disqualified.
The judge imposed a further four year disqualification and a four-month prison sentence, suspended for 12 months.
