Wesley Williams was sentenced to two and a half years in prison at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. He pleaded guilty to one count of making a gain for himself in a scheme involving €1.4 million transferred from German investors into an account shared with Silvio Rabbitte.
Judge Martin Nolan said Williams was at the higher end of misbehaviour and reduced a five-year headline sentence by 50 per cent. The court heard Williams had no previous convictions, pleaded early and was attending therapy addressing drug dependence.
Silvio Rabbitte received a fully suspended two-year sentence after pleading guilty to impeding Williams’s apprehension. Judge Nolan ordered him to forward €235,000 to victims; defence counsel said Rabbitte had been duped and acted recklessly.
The proceedings were reported on 7 February 2024.
