Vincent Maughan’s whistleblower penalisation and constructive dismissal case against Mayo County Council was adjourned by the Workplace Relations Commission pending an in-person hearing. The planned hearings had been cancelled after his lawyers said their submissions had gone missing in the tribunal’s spam folder.
At the remote hearing, adjudicator Patsy Doyle said she had not received the legal submissions. The lawyers said they had sent them to the WRC and the Local Government Management Agency; the agency confirmed receipt. Doyle later said the papers were not admissible because of departmental cybersecurity measures and had not reached the commission.
After further problems arose over a stenographer, recording and transcript sharing, Doyle adjourned the case pending arrangements for a hearing in person.
