Vincent Maughan hearing adjourned in whistleblower claim

By Tadhg O'Sullivan

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Former firefighter Vincent Maughan’s whistleblower penalisation and constructive dismissal hearing against Mayo County Council was adjourned on 2 December 2024, after the WRC could not access legal submissions from his lawyers.

The WRC had planned two days of hearings, and Maughan was expected to begin giving evidence. The dispute over the filings arose during a remote hearing before adjudicator Patsy Doyle.

After further issues involving a stenographer, digital recording and transcript sharing, Doyle adjourned the case pending arrangements for an in-person hearing.

This report covers an earlier stage of the case. Later developments are not reported here.
