Viktorija Danilova alleges TikTok redundancy discrimination

Viktorija Danilova’s Workplace Relations Commission complaint alleges family-status and race discrimination in TikTok’s redundancy process; the hearing was adjourned on 26 March 2025.

TikTok’s barrister told the WRC that advances in artificial intelligence had reduced the need for multilingual customer-support staff, and 150 roles were eliminated.

Danilova said she was on maternity leave when notified of redundancy on 30 July, and argued she deserved more favourable consideration for alternative work.

TikTok said workers were selected by their original hiring market; Danilova disputed that her contract confined her to the Russian market.

Adjudicator Pat Brady adjourned the case to consider whether Danilova had made out a prima facie case, with a decision or further hearing to follow.
