The unnamed teenager was jailed for murdering Thomas Dooley at the Central Criminal Court on 31 March 2025, receiving an 11-year sentence with the final three years suspended.

The teenager, who was 17 at the time of the attack, was among six people who fatally attacked Dooley at Rath Cemetery in Tralee on 5 October 2022. The court heard he was armed with a baseball bat.

The judge said the offence was extremely grave but that a life sentence was not appropriate. The teenager was also ordered to have no contact with the Dooley family after release, keep the peace and be of good behaviour for three years, follow probation directions and complete victim awareness courses.
