An unnamed 27-year-old man went on trial at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, accused of intentionally or recklessly causing serious harm by infecting two women with HIV, reported on 25 June 2018.
The man pleaded not guilty to allegations concerning events between November 2009 and June 2010. The prosecution alleged he knew he had HIV, had been advised to practise safe sex and did not tell either woman before they were diagnosed.
The court heard that both women were former girlfriends and that neither knew about the other relationship. The trial was expected to last seven days.
