Ms Justice Karen O’Connor sentenced an unnamed man at the Central Criminal Court on 21 November 2024 to six years and nine months in prison, with the final nine months suspended for one year.

He pleaded guilty to six charges of sexual assault of a girl who was aged 12 to 14 when he abused her at his home between September 1992 and September 1994.

The judge backdated the sentence to 7 October 2024, when he went into custody. The suspension was subject to strict conditions, including that he have no unsupervised access to children.
