Two Syrian families’ High Court case over alleged human-rights breaches linked to the EU-Turkey migration deal was adjourned on 7 December 2016 for a January hearing on whether the Irish court had jurisdiction.

One father and his 13-year-old daughter were due to transfer to Germany, while four members of the other family were permitted to remain in Greece until March. Mr Justice Paul Gilligan found no evidence they would be transferred to Turkey before the jurisdiction issue was decided and made no protective order.
