A man and a woman have been charged with perjury over statements filed in Conor McGregor’s failed appeal against a civil jury’s finding that he raped Nikita Hand. They appeared in Dublin District Court, where they were told the Director of Public Prosecutions had directed that both be tried before a jury in the Circuit Criminal Court.
The pair were remanded on bail with conditions, including weekly reporting to Ballyfermot Garda Station and not interfering with witnesses. They are due back before the district court on 9 November for service of the book of evidence. The charges follow the Court of Appeal’s referral of documentation after the proposed new evidence was withdrawn; Mr McGregor’s appeal was later dismissed in its entirety, and the Supreme Court refused permission for a further appeal.
