Trust Egharevba appeal dismissed in money laundering extradition case

By Fionn Kelly

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Trust Egharevba’s appeal against surrender in an alleged money laundering case was dismissed by the Supreme Court on 25 June 2015. The appeal concerned a European arrest warrant issued by France.

The court affirmed the High Court’s order that Ms Egharevba be surrendered to France, ruling that she had not established the required objection under section 44 of the European Arrest Warrant Act 2003. The Supreme Court said the alleged laundering offence could not be excluded on that basis, but did not address two further certified questions because its answer to the first was sufficient.
