It was a brief court sitting at Tralee District Court before Judge David Waters last Wednesday.

David Lobe (51) of Clonville, Oakpark Road, Tralee was ordered to donate €300 to The Grove Addiction Treatment Centre for possession of cocaine valued at €14. “He’s very contrite about the whole thing,” said solicitor Pat Mann.

Jonathan O’Gorman (40) of Chapel Street, Tralee was fined €250 after pleading guilty to a charge of intoxication to such an extent that might endanger himself or others. On September 26, Mr O’Gorman was unable to stand steadily, the court heard. “He was a little bit bananas on this occasion judge,” said his solicitor. “He apologises.”

Ivan Dvizov (56) of Station House, Blennerville was fined €250 for public intoxication after he was found asleep on a park bench in The Square, Tralee. “That’s accepted judge,” said his solicitor. “He apologises and he has pleaded guilty.”

A speeding ticket got dismissed when a defendant argued his fixed charge notice went to the wrong address. A garda told the court Bernard McKenna of Sackville, Ardfert was caught driving 70kph in a 50kph in Mounthawk on January 18, 2025. The court heard he told the garda his address was Knockanish, Tralee but the fine went to his listed address in Sackville and he never received the notice.

Two men struggling to reach Tralee during stormy weather had bench warrants issued for failure to appear.

Minutes after court ended, Abraham Harazi (21) of The Square, Abbeyfeale entered the courtroom. The judge was still present. “I did get the earliest bus,” explained Mr Harazi, who faced a public order charge. “There was a lot of fog and mist in Abbeyfeale.”

Adeel Nawaz (20), of 26 Castletreasure Grove, Castlestreasure, Cork arrived too late altogether. But Judge Waters cancelled his bench warrant the next day at Cahersiveen District Court when his solicitor explained the Cork bus was ‘water logged’ on the way to Tralee.

Both cases were adjourned to November 26.
