Tomasz Blazejewicz seeks identity over Garda data request
This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.
Tomasz Blazejewicz sought a High Court order identifying a Garda officer over the alleged fraudulent obtaining of his personal data. The proceedings were reported on 23 June 2022.
He wanted to sue and serve proceedings on the individual officer. In a separate judicial review against the Garda Commissioner, he sought the officer’s name and an address for service.
The case concerned an online exchange about an electric drone. Blazejewicz claimed that he later received a call from a man he believed to be the seller, followed by a WhatsApp message from the same number containing images of his private account information.
Adverts.ie told his lawyers that Gardaí had requested his data for an investigation into stolen property. His counsel said no criminal investigation took place and that Blazejewicz believed the data had been obtained fraudulently.
Mr Justice Charles Meenan granted permission to bring the action on an ex parte basis. The report said it was due to return before the courts in October; no later outcome is provided.
