TMcD’s appeal against rape, sexual assault and robbery convictions was dismissed by the Court of Appeal on 25 February 2020. The offences arose from events in Arklow, County Wicklow, on 4 March 2014.
The court rejected an argument that the trial judge had failed to give a corroboration warning and said it was not persuaded that the verdict was unsafe. A nolle prosequi had been entered on the defilement count, meaning that count was not pursued.
